             Jeff Johnson has always believed in working hard, working to make something of oneself and making a better life.

            Over the years, he has done just that. He has become a successful businessman and entrepreneur and has turned his focus on another goal, helping to breathe life back into Uvalda and the surrounding areas.

Johnson grew up in Uvalda and was raised on the importance of hard work by his his grandfather, his mother, and his uncle.

            After graduating in 1977, Johnson started doing construction work.

He would work around the area but was unable to find a job in Uvalda, so he decided to start his own business, Johnson’s Steel Buildings in 1989.

While starting Johnson’s Steel Buildings was a way for Jeff to have employment around Uvalda, there was much more to it as well. It was a way for him to try and help out others looking for a job in the area.

             “We started employing a few people as we went along,” he said. “We’ve probably employed somewhere around or over 150 people from the local area.” As the years went on and the business picked up, Johnson’s Steel Buildings spread out doing jobs around the area including Cobbtown, Vidalia, Lyons, Higgston, Mt. Vernon, McRae,

Glenwood, Portal and much more. 

          “We’ve built numerous commercial and residential properties, among others throughout the surrounding counties,” he said. "We are dedicated to providing a sophisticated metal building that is custom engineered, energy efficient and environmentally friendly."
